Dog Poop Health Check (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides dog health journaling and AI-assisted stool analysis. This policy explains what information the app processes, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
Information the app processes
Depending on the features you use, the app may process:
- •Dog and journal information you enter, such as dog names, breed, age, weight, medical and medication records, journal entries, and scheduled health events.
- •Photos and analysis results, including stool photos you select, Bristol Stool Scale classifications, observations, confidence scores, summaries, and recommendations.
- •An anonymous Firebase identifier used to authenticate AI analysis requests. The app does not ask you to register or provide login details. This identifier is created when you request AI analysis.
- •Service diagnostics and technical information processed by Firebase and its SDKs, such as function invocation details, caller IP address, and performance metadata. This supports app functionality, security, service operation, and performance analytics.
The app does not use information for advertising or cross-app tracking.
How information is used and shared
AI stool analysis
When you request an analysis, the app sends the selected image and up to five recent analysis summaries—status, Bristol result, and short summary—to a Firebase Cloud Function in Australia. Firebase Authentication supplies the anonymous identifier, and Firebase App Check helps protect the request.
The function forwards the image and summaries to OpenAI to generate the analysis. It does not forward your Firebase identifier, your dog’s name, or your dog’s profile. Image metadata is removed before upload. The function does not intentionally save the submitted photo or result as an app record.
OpenAI response storage is disabled for these requests. OpenAI’s standard API abuse-monitoring logs may contain request content and are generally retained for up to 30 days, or longer where required by law or necessary for safety and security. Disabling response storage does not disable abuse monitoring.
On-device storage and iCloud
Dog profiles, journal entries, medical records, analysis history, and saved images are stored on your device. Supported data and photos may sync to your private Apple iCloud/CloudKit database when iCloud is available and enabled. Apple handles iCloud data under your Apple account and Apple’s terms.
Deleting the app may not remove information already synced to iCloud. You can manage iCloud data through Apple’s iCloud settings.
Other sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information. Reports leave the app only when you choose to export or share them. Firebase and OpenAI process information under their own privacy terms:
Retention and deletion
You can delete supported dog profiles, records, journal entries, analyses, and photos in the app. When iCloud is enabled, those deletions sync when your device is online and signed in; sync may take time.
To delete the anonymous Firebase account used for AI requests, go to Settings → Account & Privacy → Delete Account. This removes that Firebase account but does not delete saved app or iCloud data, and it does not cancel an Apple subscription. You can delete saved app data separately. If you request AI analysis after deleting the Firebase account, the app creates a new anonymous account.
Firebase may retain limited service diagnostics under its service policies. OpenAI abuse-monitoring logs may retain request content as described above. For help with a privacy request, contact support@dogpoophealthcheck.app.
Permissions
The app requests access only when you use the related feature:
- •Camera when you choose to take a photo.
- •Photos when you select or save a photo.
- •Calendar when you enable calendar sync for an entry.
- •Notifications when you enable reminders.
You can change permissions in your device settings. Some features may not work without the relevant permission.
Children’s privacy
Dog Poop Health Check is not intended for children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
International processing
Firebase and OpenAI may process AI-analysis information outside your country. Apple processes iCloud data under your Apple account and its applicable terms.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices change. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date.
